MS She resided in Long Beach, CA for 15 years. Gainer was married to Joseph F. Gainer, was mother to Mrs. Gainer as well as grandmother to Sterling Pillsbury and Elizabeth Pillsbury. Gainer was also the niece of Rev. Harrison Jones, a pioneer preacher in Ohio and chaplain of the regiment commanded by President James A. Garfield during the Civil War. Gainer was known as a most loveable Christian character, ever prominent in church work teaching the Loyal Women's Sunday School class in the First Christian Church.
